HD Guru has just leaked the prices for the 2014 Samsung 4K TV's. Surprisingly, they are not as expensive as I thought.

Samsung HU8500 (flat screen model):

- 50": $2499

- 55": $2999

- 60": $3499

- 65": $3999

- 75" $5999

Samsung HU9000 (flagship curved screen model):

- 55": $3999

- 65": $4999

- 78": $7999

These are the UPP prices, not the MSRP's. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see these prices fall an extra $300-$500 within the next few months. Overall these are already looking better than Sony's prices. I can't wait to see how VIzio prices their reference models.

Any pricing on the new 85" with FALD?

It's $40,000. So pretty much the same price as a new BMW.

That's painful. I'm not sure how they can reconcile that pricing when the Sony is so much less. Certainly not cheap, but not 40g.

It's similar to SONY:

850 Series

XBR-49X850B (49-inch): $2199.99

XBR-55X850B (55-inch): $2999.99

XBR-65X850B (65-inch): $4499.99

XBR-70X850B (70-inch): $5999.99

900 Series

XBR-55X900B (55-inch) $3999.99

XBR-65X900B (65-inch) $5499.99

XBR-79X900B (79-inch ) $8999.99

Since Samsung doesn't have a full array local dimming set, the SONY 950 Series is in a class of its own for now:

950 Series

XBR-65X950B (65-inch) $7999.99

XBR-85X950B (85-inch) $24,999.99

Is it me or the prices seem higher than Samsungs line from last year?

Don't take MSRP too seriously. Street prices are always much lower.

How does everyone feel about having to go curved if they want Samsungs' best PQ offering?

Is that true? I was under the impression that they are the same except for the curvature. Anyway, are there any hard dates that these sets will be available?

Yep, Auto Depth Enhancement, the highest motion rating and Pur Color are only available on the curved HU9000. The good news is that the curve is slight. The TVs are already up on Samsungs website and they should be in stores sometime in April.

However slight it may be I'm not so sure it would look all that good nor allow multiple viewers to see all that well, at least in my great room. The new 8500 looks comparable to the 2013 9000.

interested to see if the "auto depth enhancement" and the "Pur Color" are worth anything. I was planning on getting the 8550 because I don't really want the curved screen. Have a feeling they aren't worth the extra $1000, but my OCD will cause me problems knowing I still paid that much for a TV and it didn't have those extra features.

Their 2013 model looked quite stunning in the store, but I was turned off by the significant motion blur that was also reported in reviews. The price is right on these sets, but I'm always hesitant on buying a Samsung television simply based upon the fact they aren't exactly known for having the greatest input lag numbers.

Well I'm going to try Samsung this time around as my last 3 Sonys have been bad . SXRD1 dead pixels, SXRD2 melted optical block and now my KDL-60EX700 won't turn on unless it gets heated up by two space heaters on each side of it.

Late March actually, so not too long of a wait.

Where are the release dates posted? If the curb is not that bad and the different features are worth it I may get the 65" 9000 instead of the 75" 8550. It looks like the One Connect box comes with the 9000 series also and not so with 8550.

Quad core+ and DTS Premium also for the 9000.
