That link is dated. You can already order Samsung 3D Tvs at Sears and Best Buy will have theirs on display in the U.S. within 3 weeks. Best Buy also already has the skew number for the LG 3D capable TVs in their system.

I almost bit on the Samsung LED's that came out last year. I was pleased with the styling and some of the innovations with this first wave of 3D TV's. Im looking specifically at the 55' LG LE9500, Does anyone have any info as to how much it will cost? Also, Im assuming that it will be included in this first wave of tv's as disscussed above to be released at the end of March/Beginning of April. Is that correct? anyone know?

Yes, I have a price for you for the LG 55 incher. The 55LE9500 is priced at $3,800.00 at Best Buy. Note, it is speced as "3D Compatible" whatever that means. Whether that means it will be 3D ready right out of the box or not like the Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, and Vizio 3D models is not fully answered by that weasel language of "3D Compatible."

ok. $3,800 is about what I excpected. it's up there though. I was surprised that a lot of the displays in this first wave of 3DHDTV's will not have local dimming save for the LG's , one of the samsungs and the Vizios. Also last I checked the 55 inch Vizio was going for something like $2,600 when thats released. I need a new display but i gotta wait and see some of these reviews first. I think 3d ready means it def needs some attachment to play 3d and it wont come with glasses like the sonys. 3d will be a bonus for me though so it doesnt bother me that much. damn. decisions decisions.

Local dimming is not the same on the different models. Example:

Quote:
With a cabinet depth of just .92 inches and an 8.5mm bezel, the LE9500 is a full LED TV with the thinness you'd normally expect from an edge-lit model. The 55-inch display supports local dimming of up to 240 addressable segments, while the Infinia LE7500 and LE5500 each offer 16 addressable segments

The Vizio(s) are reported to have 512 zone local dimming

Thanks Lee,

At this point I am thinking to go with a LCD screen, due to videogaming...Chances are I will be waiting for 72 Vizio, but at 9 feet away from my veiwing area I am afraid it will be too big...
