Amazon has the Samsung 941 for $139.

I have a HiDef Sony Wega 42" LCD projection TV.

Would I notice a significant improvement in picture quality for DVD's played on the 941, compared to my current non-upconverting DVD player?

Does $139 sound like a good deal?

Any significant problems with the 941?

Does upconverting really improve the picture -- isn't the upconversion process just a "trick" to add more apparent resolution than a DVD really has?

Is the Faroudja chip a significant plus?

Thanks for your help folks.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I figure it's better than starting a new one. I'm looking for a dvd player to replace my toshiba-sd3960. The picture quality on the tosh is actually decent, but it's been a buggy player for quite some time now. My tv is a 32 inch panasonic hd crt. I've read some awfully negative things about the 941, but it looks like, in terms of pure pq over hdmi at 1080i (my tv doesn't support 720p) it's actually quite good? Am I correct in believing that? It looks like image cropping is the worse aspect of it's video quality judging from the benchmarks test. The audio will also be passed through optical to my receiver so the hdmi audio issues is of no import.
