Samsung A630 vs Sony EX500

Is there any noticeable difference in PQ between the older Samsung 40" A630 (Circa 2008) and the newer Sony 40" EX500?

I doubt if too many people have both, so it might be hard to get a true comparison. The A630 was pretty well reviewed, but the "A" series Samsung favorite was the A650 (and A750), not the A630.


The Sony EX500 has received excellent reviews and with technology that's two years newer than the A630, I think I'd choose the EX500, hands down. But, the C630 has received much better reviews than the A630 did.


By the way, I have a Samsung A650 and a B650 and love them both. Are you sufficiently confused yet?

I have a Samsung B650 and Sony EX400 and love them both.

But I too would choose the EX500!

The A630 is a matte version of the A650 minus 1 HDMI port.


I have an A630 and had the choice between the C630 and EX500 as a warranty replacement. I choose the EX500 because I think its a garuntee to get a Samsung panel.


What I don't like about the the C630 is that I seems like they did a lot of cost cutting. No ToC, basic remote, back of the casing is just flat black. Nothing major but perhaps an indication that they cut corners else where. Plus the panel lottery.


I'm wondering if the EX500 is better because if it isn't I may sell it and upgrade to a newer TV with better video processing.

What do you mean, no TOC? It has a charcoal gray TOC, just not red like the C650.
