Samsung BDP 1000... "Disc Cannot be Played" ...any suggestions?

2245 Views 12 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Donnie Eldridge
Bought a Bdp 1000 off the bay.

I have tried several discs, dvd and Blu ray.

All of them give me the message "disc cannot be played"

Upgraded the firmware.... Same problems...

Any ideas?

Has it ever worked since you've owned it? If not, it sounds like you got a bad unit.
No, never played a single disc.

Since you upgraded the firmware, I assume it reads CD's OK, just not DVD / BD?

What was the advertised condition on eBay? New, Used but in good condition? If so, then I would contact the seller & tell him them problem and ask for a refund.

But I see alot of DBP1000's on eBay advertised as "As Is", "cannot read disks" or "cannot not output video". If you bought one of the "As Is" untis, your best shot is to contact Samsung and see if they'll cover it under warranty or, if not, what they want to have a look at it.

The sale said, "I tested it and it Works great" I'm asking for a refund.

Good luck!

I followed the the Sammy 1000's for a week or two on eBay, after a friend recommended it as the least expensive way get a BD player and go dual format. In the end I went with a PS3 - I decided Sony will provide better & longer support for the PS3 than Samsung will for their 1st gen. player. And if you work at it, you can get the 20GB model for just over $400.

Greetings

My bdp1000 started exhibiting the same behavior over the last month. Would not recognize disc after disc ...

Sometimes after I cycled the output signal type, it would read the disc ...

Also had lots of stutter ...

Called Samsung and they exchanged it for me under warranty. New refurb unit had to be firmware updated, but it is working fine.

The unit you have is broken ... needs fixing ...

I have had the 1000 since too weeks before it came out. Had some pq issues but with all firmware updates it improved. Just recently noticed a bit of I think it is what everyone called stutter when the pic stops for a couple of seconds than resumes. this happened just a few times in past but about 6 or 8 times on Deja Vu. Is this a problem with the player or the disc. I just did the latest update a few weeks ago Watched another disc before and it was fine.
Greetings

My player started out with the stutter ... and then it got worse ...

Regards
thanks. I did watch another movie yesterday and no stutter
I have the same problem

got my bd-p1000 today, won't play a single blu-ray disc, but plays DVDs without any problem

it's the European model
Update, the seller has agreed to a refund.

I'm shipping it today.
