D-nice posted some great settings suggestions while breaking in a Panasonic with the break in DVD.

Was wondering if there are any similar suggestions for the Samsung models

For reference I have the 63b550.

Would it be better to crank up settings while running the DVD or leave them normal or even reduced?

Want to make sure I get the most even phospor wear.

Unless you are planning to have a professional calibration soon, don't waste your time and electricity. Just avoid black bars and static images on your display while the phosphers stabilize. Watching full screen at a comfortable brightness and contrast setting will take care of any short term IR as your TV settles into a long term balanced state.

You are likely right but I have kids who atch TV in $:3 or with channel logos and well by running the DVD at night I can get the break in done in a week or so vs a month or so with traditional viewing.

Samsung doesn't recommend any necessary break-in. Some people just avoid high brightness and contrast early on and don't use letterboxing more than necessary (i.e. the length of a movie at a time versus watching TV is 4:3 all day).
