Any idea on when a CC2 TV gets to market? Is one year realistic or will it be one-and-a-half or two years?

And are further into development and deployment as soon as the final standards are known.

The OCAP 1.0 standard has been issued for a month now. According to CableLabs, Samsung is the first CE manufacturer to license the technology. Despite what Panasonic showed at CES it looks as if they have yet to step up to the plate and make the commitment that Samsung has.

Just becuase Panasonic demonstrated something at CES it does not follow that they are further along in develpment than Samsung.

Panasonic was also first to market CableCard V1 sets and has been pushing other manufacturers and cable companies to adopt the standards needed to make V2 workable. I know that they already have the hardware in place for deployment with their slide out modules (in plasmas), so that the base set can be upgraded if it conforms to the needed standards.

Panasonic(MEI) is one of licensors of OCAP (which includes GEM) technology. Samsung is a licensee of the OCAP.
