With the current versions of the Samsung DLP’s, can they be upgraded to future versions of the light engine, chip and color wheel?

While there was a rumour floating around on this forum that there was going to be an upgrade kit available when the new light engine came out.


The thread concluded, with help of Samsung techs, that there would be no upgrade.

While I can understand why those who have had problems with the light engine may want to upgrade, I can't imagine that the vast majority of us would want to change out the light engine simply because there is a newer version of it. I doubt if the actual PQ is going to be much different. I mean, I wouldn't change out the engine in my 2003 BMW simply because there are some changes in the 2004.
