I have a Samsung HLS4266W that is 3 years old and so far hasn't ever given me any problems. I had really expected the bulb to burn out by now but it looks great so far. For the past few months though I have been having an annoying whine that usually starts out faint a bit after startup then gets noisier. I can take my knuckles and give the tv base a good knock and the noise will disappear and usually not come back until the next time I turn it on. Does this sound like a color wheel?

Thanks in Advance,

Keith

At least yours start a few months ago. My HLN617WX did it from one day to the other. Can complain this tv is 5-1/2 years old and it's the first problem.

Order the new parts including a new bulb from Samsungparts.com. Re-install

now looks better than ever. Thank you to the persons that post all that good information that help me and others to fix there tv for reasonable amount of money. Thank you guys.

Ok thanks. I tried using the straw on a WD 40 can to squirt in the back of the tv and lubricate the bearing. I thought it worked at first but I must have gotten it on the color wheel filters cause now my picture has a liquid distortion look and it smells.

No you didn't. You're kidding, right?
