SO little backstory, bear with me. So just got my Light tunnel on my Samsung DLP replaced under warranty. Once new one was installed I noticed a spot/smudge type shape that is darker in that area then rest of the screen. It is on upper left of the screen. Was not dust(have had that issue befoe), wasn't DMD board(spot was big and smudge, and also had DMD issue before, so i know what it looks like) So i opened the side hole on the top part of the tv Cabinet(where you can look at back of the screen)to see into the cabinet area to see what it might be. And i notice that on the Lense/mirror/Lamp thing that shines up onto the Big mirror on the back of the TV, There is a Big Spot on it. SO i pull out the light engine to get a closer look, and there is a HUGE spot on that piece (whats it called?) where the Film that is on it is missing. I can see where it is missing, and it does line up to where the spot would be on the screen ( upper right of lamp thing when looking straight at it, so then Upper left of screen when watching TV)
--So my questions is, does opening that side Circular hole void the warranty. Cause if it does not, i will tell them i just opened that and i could see on that part something wrong. I of course wont tell them i pulled out the Light engine. But if the other thing doesnt void the warranty. I will tell them that.
Got TV serviced on tuesday 2/23 at 11am. Called back at 1pm same day to say part newley installed is flawed. They said they would get back to me. Now it is 2/24 7pm no word. Will call tomorrow.
