In truth, the big edge of HD2+ appears to be in contrast more than anything. I believe the new color wheel is key to that improvement. I'm not sure there is much edge in fill because the dimple is in the middle and it's not like the pixels had a visible hole in the center.

Anyway, the projectors are cool. Whether the Samsung RPTV gets this soon, though, I don't know. I doubt it's a major priority, but it will probably happen at some point. Maybe the 46/56 get it to differentiate them first?!?

Yeah, sounds like the new colorwheel and software are the big news here. Supposedly no more dithering in dark regions to get the proper level.

I say we petition Samsung for another Upgrade Board. :)

The majority of HD2+ chip application will be on wall projectors first. But it should "trickle down" to RPTV's in the near future.

Since the HD2+'s are cheaper to produce than the HD2's, OEM manufacturer's wont disregard this.

I would expect that new Samsung products based on the HD2+ technology likely won't be introduced under CES in January. That will give them time to properly develop products around the chip, but also to let the current HLN line, in which a couple of models were just introduced, to run their course for the holiday season.

Hopefully, the next generation products will be cheaper as well. I was looking at the HD2 line, and I might still buy. But the HD2+ based potential future products do seem intriquing.
