Sorry to post a new thread on a similar topic of an existing thread but I don't want this to get buried. The previous thread asked if you only have one DVI connection should you hookup cable box or dvd player.
My question w/the samsung specfically is that the tv has both hdmi and dvi inputs on the back. My Time Warner box only has HDMI output. Which is better for cable/dvd hookup, hdmi or dvi? I am wondering if I should go HDMI to HDMI from cable box to tv or HDMI to DVI for cable box and leave the HDMI for DVD player.
My personal preference is to hook the cable box up via HDMI. HDMI passes both audio and video, so this gives you the option of watching tv through your tv speakers. Use DVI (only passes video) for your DVD player. When watching a DVD get the 5.1 DD audio through an optical connection to your A/V receiver.
