I am about to purchase the Samsung HL-S5087W tonight but i am now reading there is and issue with the overscan shutting off.


1. Does this make a big difference in PQ not being to turn it off?


2. I hear if it has a December make date it works. Does this mean all the models sold after December are good to go?


3. If not is there a firmware update in the making?


I could just buy the 5088w instead but my wife has me on a $1500.00 budget that i already exceeded with the 5078 at 1599.00. The 5088 is 1799.00 and trust me if i explain to her why the 5088 is better she will not understand and i will of course be shot down.


Just hesitant about the 5078w if it can't show its true picture because this feature does not work.........

Well i just got off the phone with Samsung's customer support and they claim there is no issue with the XX87W not being to turn off Overscan so whats the deal. Do i buy or not buy?

Can someone at least with this TV tell me if this overscan function does turn off?

I tried turning my overscan off but to no avail. I have read that it cannot be permanently turned off. Once you power off it will come back on. I have read, that some person had gotten it to work with HDMI, though I haven't read a confirmation.

Would be if they have the collapsing light tunnel issues resolved. Either way, get the extended warranty.
