I purchased a HLN617W DLP TV about two weeks ago, and was quite happy about it for about three days. Then the color wheel started buzzing. I had the light engine replaced under warranty, then about two hours later, I noticed a softball sized blotch on the screen about 2/3s of the way up, and just off center.

If I display a pure white screen, it shows up as a series of vertical stripes, about 1/2 inch wide, 1/2 inch apart of diminished intensity. Another call to the repair shop, and a week later another light engine. Now a new blotch is near the bottom of the screen about 1/3 from the left hand side. The original blotch is gone.

So, has anyone else seen this? Any easy fixes?

The repairman wants to replace the rest of the optical innards, and I'm trying to decide on returning the set and getting something else...

Comments? Suggestions? Is this normal?

Thanks!

Sounds like some dust got in there while the Tech was replacing the light engine.
