Thats a good price, but the Samsung site says it comes out in June, sure you dont mean the 768p sets?

http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/L...4096_final.pdf

And fromw hat ive heard the MSRP will be $3999, probably wont drop as fast either since they know the novelty of 1080p is mainly for those who

1. Know what they want

2. Can affourd it

3. Have/want bluray/hd-dvd

they're listing 7000:1 (dynamic) contrast for the 46". Is this BS? The new pana has a contrast of 10000:1 (dynamic). It seems that the new samsungs will have pretty amazing black levels and may equal the plasma's. Anyone think that Samsung is messing with the numbers. If not, they Plasma's days may be over sooner then expected. I expected that LCD would surpass plasma in the next 2-3 years but it may happen sooner!

For the more knowledgable and experienced people here......does a June release typically mean the beginning of the month, end of the month, or impossible to tell.

I return home in June and will be replacing my 50" Panny plasma that went "tits-up".........I had settled on the 4692D but would love to get the 4696D if available.

Thanks and these forums have helped tremendously in researching my next purchase.

Id say end.

As far as contrast, Samsung totally cooks the books.

It should be early june for two reasons. The Blu-rey players coming out and the Soccer World cup mid june in Germany.

I was wondering if the new 1080p lcd sets from samsung will be able to receive a 1080p signal from a source such as the upcoming blu-ray and ps3. The current tvs only upconvert the 720p signal or 1080i signal to 1080p. If anybody knows please let me know.

1080p input should be a given, would be a huge oversight.
