For those with the (1015 / 1011 /1007) firmware, I just spoke to a samsung employee. She is shipping me a solid state memory stick with the rev. 1016 firmware on it.

It fixes 3 things:

- Audio Dropouts (which effect HDMI and maybe Component)

- Tripple Ball Effect (HDMI and maybe Component)

- Screen Tearing (HDMI only I think)

So maybe this will help some fix their problems.

Weird. Audio dropouts I can see as a fix, maybe, for the 65 series sets, though I haven't seen too many complaints in that regard. Triple Ball effect though is a non-issue, as the 65 series is not 120hz... Same with screen tearing, this is the first I have heard of this problem on the 65 series. Most of the time screen tearing is source dependent as well. Did they give you any more information than that? I know jaymz99 has firmware on the way too, albeit for the 61 series. We'll see who gets it first and what the results are.

Should have it by next week.

Those are the listed main fixes, but there could be alot more fixed, like PQ problems. Samsung is more liable if they list things like that.

What exactly is Screen Tearing and Tripple Ball Effect? I do notice that some shows have motion problems. I mean some shows look like they are running at a very low framerate. Its kinda like playing a video file on your computer and having alot of dropped frames. Is that what it is?

I'm guessing that would be the refresh rate. For this model it's 8ms which is decent, but not up to par with the 4ms of 120hz.

They have ways of tweaking processor speed to reduce this effect. I think you could consider that tripple ball--even though that supposedly only happens with 120hz, but samsung may have a different definition for it.

I most certainly will try the update and report back.

Did anyone receive this firmware yet? I'm loosing my mind with this tv. I sold my toshiba 42L67 720p which in my opinion was great to get this one. thank god that bluray and ps3 games are excellent on it or i would have already sold it for a big loss. I'm holding out hope that this firmware will do the trick.
