the samsung is 60Hz but 30,000:1 dynamic contrast...

toshiba is 120Hz but10,000:1 ratio.

also the refresh rate is different... 5ms for samsung and 8ms for tosh.

Well the Toshiba is the "better" TV, but you're going to pay quite a bit more for it.
you sure about that 10,000 ratio u posted on the Toshiba?

I owned the XF550 and loved it (had issues to do with interference within house or via hdmi..it's a mystery) and it performed well..loved the 120hz and the 5.5 pull down.

Now own the Sammy 530 and love that, too. But I do miss the 120hz and 5.5...if I had zero issues with interference (it's a mystery still) I would have picked the Toshiba but very happy with the Sammy (shows up the issues much less).

(issues were red blotches throughout screen...appears to be my issue and not the tv's).
i did check the specs again for tosh, it just says dynamic contrast is there ...not how much...( my bad)

so does the refresh rate....8ms versu 5 ms not matter??

in terms of $$$... the tosh is about 200 more...is it worth it??

thank you for your input.....
From what I understand if the refresh rate is 8 or below it's good and those tests can be done a various of ways so that some low refresh rates have to be taken with a grain of salt (that is my limited understanding). The 120hz in the Toshy makes up for the refresh rate in my opinion as I never saw any issues while viewing hockey or movies.

For $200 more I would, personally, go for the set that has good forum reviews, 120hz, 5.5 pull down, etc...but can't go wrong with either tv..oh, plus I believe the Toshy is a sammy screen..so u are kinda getting 2 for 1..hehe
