I've had my Samsung LN52A750 for a few weeks now and am very pleased with it. Just today, I hooked up an Onkyo 606 receiver and I seem to have a problem. When I'm viewing TV from the satellite, the display looks terrible. Any text that appears (such as a Tivo menu) looks like it's shimmering.

Here's the basic setup:

DirectTV to Tivo via S-video. Tivo to the Onkyo via composite video (I can't seem to get anything out of the Tivo using S-video and it's not an HDMI model, so composite is my only option). Onkyo to Samsung via HDMI.

The TV shows that the video signal coming out of the Tivo is 720x480p. (I don't have DirectTV HD yet.) I've tried setting the HDMI Output Resoultion (on the Onkyo) to all it's various modes including "Through, Auto, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. The only difference is that on some settings, instead of the letters shimmering, they look like they have horizontal lines through them.

If I connect the Tivo directly to the Samsung TV, the shimmering goes away and the picture improves greatly. It's hard to see the shimmering on regular video, but there's a definite difference in the picture quality depending on if the signal is going through the Onkyo (bad) or directly to the TV (better).

I have a Blu-ray plyer connected through the Onkyo (HDMI) and it does not exhibit any problems. It's just the Tivo and satellite that's causing an issue.

Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, figured out any solution?

Thanks in advance.

John
