Here is what happened. I had my TV hooked up to my cable box via components. I had a nice full screen when watching SD channels. I then decide to see what this HDMI fuss is all about.


I hooked it up from the DVI out on my box with a HDMI/DVI adapter. I decide component has much much better blacks so i go to hook them back up.


Now my SD is either one small square in the middle or it has two big black bars on the sides. Also where as before i was getting 480i/480p/720p on my info screen i now only get 720p. Im assuming my box has gone in to limp mode. Is there anyway to reset it, i have tried unplugging both the TV and box.


Any suggestions?

You probably need to change your STB to output at 720p. Some settings must have changes when you hooked up the HDMI. Just google search your model and you should be able to find how to access the menu to change it.

You must have had it in a pass through or native or whatever it is called on your box, which allows the settings you are talking about. Go into the boxes menu and change that setting back.
