Hi everyone - before posting this I did look at the official owner thread and calibration thread but didn't find anything commenting on this issue.
When I watch bluray movies such as Planet Earth I am noticing very defined black levels. For example, when Planet Earth starts it says "BBC HD" with a diamond around HD. On my set you can see larger diamonds surrounding this one with very defined levels of black. When I watched this on my fathers DLP it looked like a very natural progression of black with no additional diamonds.
I know this TV got great review for black levels so I am curious if this is just a settings issue or if this is how the TV just is. See the artist rendering below for an example. It is a bit exaggerated but fairly accurate.
