Samsung Models?

I wondering why Samsung has so many models.I was thinking at first maybe i was looking at some old models too.(correct me for mistakes)The Samsung 32 only comes in 41,51,52D.

41D:Flat black,speakers on side and 3,000:1 contrast

51D:Glossy black hidden speakers,4,000:1 contrast

52D:is just 51D in white.


So when you get to the 40 and 46 im confused.You have the 41D,51D,52D,92D and 96D.

41 and 51D:Same specs as 32 inch.Doesnt have CCFL panel.

92D:5,000:1 contrast and has CCFL panel.

96D:Same frame as 92D.Has 2 component hookups where all others have one.6,000:1 contrast.


When i compared these models as i did up top i was thinking that some were old but there all new.Why is Samsung making so many different levels of LCD's?Also is the CCFL panel really a big deal when it comes to color accuracy?If someone could clairfy this it would be awsome.

The original advantages of CCFL include small size, low temperature, low watt consumption, energy saving, and long product life. But then again per this I guess there is "old" CCFL and "new" CCFL(with improved phosphors), and potentially new hybrid systems with LED's. I imagine the buyer is going to have to get a whole lot smarter to figure this out....or simply point at what looks best and say - I want that one.

The 96D models are Samsung's 1080p models. All the others are 768P.

I was looking at the same thing myself and wondering why there are so many options. Does anyone who owns one of these - particularly the 32" models - have an opinion on which is best and why?

So if I don't plan on using 1080p, I should stick with the 92d models?


How is the PQ on the 92d relative to the 51d?
