Hi all,

I was wondering if maybe I could get some help on these forums before I go and return the set. There are a couple of issues I've been having since I bought this set a week or so ago.

1. The first is a problem where occasionally, the set will act as if someone is playing with the brightness level. It will brighten or darken every so often. It doesn't darken or brighten that much. I would compare it to raising/lowering the brightness level one or 2 values. Is this normal? It doesn't happen all the time. In fact, more often than not, the set behaves normally but it does happen.

2. The second problem is the following:

Whenever there is a dark or light lettering/logo/lines across the screen, it sort of carries over through the rest of the display. I hope you can wee what I mean by the photos because it is difficult to explain.

Notice the dark horizontal lines carrying over from the white lines displayed on the right...

Now notice the lighter block of color carried over from the dark block on the display...

Thank you and I look forward to reading your comments.

I'm not sure about your second question it could just be image retention but, I had a Samsung and it did that weird thing too with the brightness fluctuating at random times and it was really annoying. It mostly happened when I had my computer hooked up to it. The dynamic contrast was turned off so it wasn't that. I don't know if it still does it anymore because I returned it and got a different tv.

Thanks for your help. I have adjusted the settings to what you have suggested and both problems still persist.

I am seeing the "carry over" on all input sources. Would the firmware update fix either of these issues? On the Samsung website, all it says is something about a red haze or fog or something like that.

daniel, that contrast seemed a bit high to me too. UAV did say however the settings are specific to the set they tested and each set will vary to some degree.

dabigmandan, if the recommendations don't help I'd consider exchanging the set. You should see those issues. In fact, I'm leaning towards just exchanging it for a new one because there may some issues with yours.

Could this be related to horizontal line bleed problem? It seems to be very common problem. You can find some discussions from different forums...

Ps. I have seen very similiar horizontal line bleed problems with my PS63A766 (european model) plasma display.
