I received a PN58B860 from HH Greg and I have two questions.


1. Does the unit ship with the advertising strip of plastic down the left side like I saw in the store - ToC, USB 2.0, Anynet+, etc or does it come out of the box with clear protective wrapping.


2. Is the unit already assembled on the stand in the box?


I ask because my unit came with no decals and the unit was pretty crooked on the stand. The delivery guys told me they do not ship with the decals and they sometimes see the crooked units on the stand - it was on the stand when they lifted the box. I have to decide to return the unit fairly soon but I honestly do not want a unit that was either previously opened and returned, a demo unit or assembled improperly.

I inspected 4 860's (fresh out of the box). NONE of them were on the stand. The stand actually tucks into one side in the styrofoam corners.

Sorry my friend you are wrong...be sure of your comments before you post as to not worry other poster that they may have a repackage set. The B860comes packaged with stand attach.

Wow ... that's discouraging. Is it possible that they changed shipping for one reason or another?


Ok, next question. Can the unit be adjusted on the stand? I guess I will call Samsung to be sure. I'm pretty sure that if it were standing out in the open it wouldn't be a big deal but it's in a recess with very little clearance and this exaggerates the misalignment.

I own the sister model, the B850, and it most certainly did NOT have the stand attached. It also had the advertising strip attached to the bezel. The TV was definitely factory fresh, with loads of plastic film to strip off etc.


Actually, attaching the stand was a bit of a hassle - heavy TV, and I didn't want to lay it down on the floor, so it was sort of held in place above the stand while I fastened it.


Of course, the B860 might have different packaging, but since the box was pretty slim it seems odd that it would even fit in the box with the stand attached. Must have changed the boxes as well then I guess.

Unless swellman is correct and Samsung has changed their packaging, the B860 does NOT come with the stand pre-attached.


I just picked up my brand new set last weekend, took it home myself so no delivery involved, and when I opened the box, the stand was set in its own pre-formed space in the styrofoam packing to the side (just as pilto stated.) I had to attach it myself, which as others have said, given the weight of the stand, can be a bit of a chore. Per the instruction manual, I laid mine screen down on top of some blankets on a table and had another person hold the stand while I aligned it and screwed it on. With two people it isn't too bad, but definitely not something I'd want to attempt alone.


I'm guessing by the other posts, if their sets were delivered with the stand attached, odds are the delivery people opened it at the pickup point and pre-attached the stand and put the set back in the box prior to leaving for the delivery. That way it expedites the setup time upon arrival at the customer's home. If that's not the case, then yes, chances are it's either a returned or repackaged unit, which I wouldn't accept at all. If you've paid full price for a new unit, then that's exactly what you should receive. Period!

As I understand it, the 50 inch models come without the stand being attached, but the stand is already attached to the 58 inch models.

I will call Samsung to be sure but I believe the box is wide enough to accommodate the stand if it were attached.

My apologies. I overlooked the original reference to the 58" specifically and only saw B860 (was early and still needing coffee, hehe.) To correct, I bought a 50" and no, the stand wasn't attached. Can't speak to the 58" model, though the 50" box was large enough to have it attached as well. I'd find it odd they attach one and not the other in the same series.

I think the argument is moot at this time as we cannot live with how crooked the screen is on the stand - I shouldn't have to shim both the stand and the screen to get it straight.


I looked into the box, the box says PN58B860 but the foam packing says PN58B850. I guess the center foam piece on the bottom box is offset enough for an attached stand to rest on but it's circular and only about 4-5 inches in diameter - not much support for a stand that large but if the weight were restring on the side pieces then I guess it wouldn't matter.


I was looking under the stand and there's a plate that looks to be attached with adhesive underneath and it's not firmly attached - the plate is separating from the stand with adhesive showing. What function does this plate serve and is it normally attached with adhesive?

Not sure how important this really is to everyone here.....but Paul is correct....

B850 is shipped with the stand attached. 58"

B860 is shipped with the stand attached. 58"

50" models ship detached.

This has been verified by Samsung USA.

Are you saying that regardless of screen size these series shipped this way? I ask because the B850 is not a 50 inch TV, right? There is a 50 and 58 in each series, right? Or did you mean P50 vs P58?
