I own a  Samsung PN64F8500 , when ever I change the black optimizer to any setting but off, I get ghosting. In the off position it's great no ghosting. When I stream video from netflex or through a USB the black optimizer is grayed out and I cannot put it to off and so I continue to get the ghosting, even when streaming from my PC to the TV. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi eman can you describe the ghosting, is it like a double image or image retention?

Black optimizer should be always off, overall the behavior is too unpredictable but maybe a new firmware can fix some things.

It's a double image flickering at the bottom portion of the TV. But it only happens when using any video apps in smart TV features and that's because the black optimizer is grayed out and is set to auto.

This is a new/recent purchase or an older that you've had for a while?

What firmware are you running presently? See the "owners threads" there are two and look for a factory reset and the procedure that most feel is the best for doing a firmware update. Those threads are certainly long but the information is there. You're running your SMART from a wired or wireless connection? MOCHA or otherwise?

I bought the TV about 2 months ago. I am using firmware 1119.1. I did the reset, still have the problem. I am wired into my router. I know it has something to do with the black optimizer because when watching regular tv I can turn it off and all is well, but if I watch Netflix or put in a USB black optimizer defaults to auto and is grayed out. This produces the problem.

My guess there is some sort of streaming issue between your router and tv, especially since you said it only happens with the apps or streaming from your computer. Have you rebooted your router? Do you have any latency issues? Latency can sometimes cause issues. Try setting your router's DNS to google servers or OpenDNS. Disconnect your router from your tv. Then check to see if it still does it with your USB. If that fails, delete those apps from your list, reset your tv, and add the apps back to your list.

The thing is even watching regular tv if the optimizer is set to auto I still get the ghosting.
