I ordered the 85" yesterday. It will be delivered on the 29th. People seem to hate on the Q80A because of the ADS panels in the smaller sizes, but the 85" has a VA (likely the same one in the Q70A with that insane native contrast ratio), FALD, working 4K120, and VRR for only a few hundred bucks more than the 85" x900h.
Yes, 85” and 50” are guaranteed VA since ADS panels aren’t made in those sizes. A version number of BAXX on the box will tell you if the panel is manufactured by BOE and an ADS panel.

Also depending on region 65” panel can be VA:

Korea still has a 65" Q80A model with a Samsung VA panel. RTINGS only reviewed 55". They didn't check a other inches.

Does Samsung carry the MLB.TV app in their "app store" on their TVs. My internet searching makes it seem like they do, but I can't find it on my TV. Can anyone else see it in their list of available apps to download right now?

Not the 65 inch only, but all other sizes are VA as well. The Q80A in Europe is simply a rebadged Q80T with an updated Tizen. The design is exactly the same which is why it isn't compatible with the 2021 Slim Fit Wall Mount, and the panels are mostly the same as last year as well. In Europe that would be SDC, AUO or CSOT depending on size. Not sure why they decided to use BOE panels in the US for 55, 65 and 75 inch. Normally Europe would get a somewhat watered-down 8-series, but the tables have turned this year. That said the QN90A is mainly ADS in Europe, but they offer US equivalents and the QN95A of course (in some regions).

Thanks. I'll have to do a little more research to figure out why I can't find it. This isn't the sort of thing that should stump the type of user that joins message boards, so I must be doing something very obviously wrong that I haven't figured out yet.

It could be something as simple as “COVID screwed up supply chain” and they had to use the panels they could source.

I believe covid would have something to do with it as well. That said their initial plan was to terminate TV panel production by the end of 2020, but this was postponed to the end of 2021 to maintain bargaining power in negotiations with Chinese display makers. Either way they have slowed down on LCD lines, lost capacity and fallen to #7 in TFT input. This and them being market leader means they have to look elsewhere even more. BOE leads the TFT pack and shows increasing dominance. So reasons will be along the lines of supply/volume, profit/margin, and strong(er) competition. Hisense Europe's line-up was VA, but it's mainly ADS this year. These shifts might change post-covid, if AUO and CSOT up their game, but I wouldn't be surprised seeing more ADS panels going forward. The US Q80A, QN85A and EU QN90A might be the first signs of this. Time will tell.

I'm stumped. I looked all over in my TV's menus and can't find how to download the MLB.tv app. I'm going to send an email to Samsung.
Click the App Store icon on the home bar and then at the top should be a search icon by your login info. Type in mlb. If nothing comes up it may not be available yet for the version of Tizen you are on.

That was definitely the first place I checked. I'm quite surprised that it's not available yet.

Just chatted with MLB's support and they told me my TV isn't supported and sent me this list of supported devices:
No 2021 models on there. But it also doesn't have your 2020 model on there either, even though you have the app, so that page isn't likely kept up-to-date and doesn't really tell us anything.

Yeah that’s strange. The TU7000 runs the same version of Tizen as my set so that is likely why I see the app. Weird they wouldn’t include QLEDs as supported 2020 models.

Their response when I told them that "I have" (you have) a TV not on that list that has the app:

"This is the most updated list of the TV models that are currently supported. Thanks for your feedback! We are always looking for ways to improve our product offering and will submit your feedback. If the app is available on a TV model that is not listed among the supported models, then we can not guarantee the app will fully function as intended."

Super helpful. I guess I'll just keep checking until it shows up.

So.... Anyone else have this TV? How do you have it setup? This is my first new nice TV in 10 years, so there are all kinds of settings I don't know anything about that I assume I should adjust / turn on / turn off.

That sucks. Hopefully they release an updated app soon. As for settings I think your TV is pretty similar to mine with picture modes and options. I use movie mode for movies/tv and like standard picture mode for sports. I’ve also included my game mode settings below if you use that. Make sure to enable input signal plus in the general settings for any HDMI port you connect a 4K device to (it should turn on automatically but sometimes it doesn’t and can be the reason HDR isn’t working correctly with a source).

Picture Settings:
Settings below are for SDR content with HDR values in parentheses. While HDR content is playing you will want to adjust picture preferences and use the value in parentheses since a separate version of the picture mode is saved for HDR content.

Picture Mode: Movie

Contrast: 45 (HDR 50)
Sharpness: 5
Color: 25
Tint: 0

Picture Clarity: Custom
Blur Reduction: 10 (Only on 120hz panels)
Judder Reduction: 3
LED Clear Motion: Off
Noise Reduction: Auto (HDR: Auto)

Local Dimming: Standard (HDR: High)

Shadow Detail: 0
RGB Only Mode: Off
Color Space Settings: Auto (HDR: Native)

General Settings -> Intelligent Mode -> Adaptive Picture Off
General Settings -> Eco Sollution -> All settings Off/Disabled (values can change when you switch picture modes).

Also you can take a look at rtings to see if you like their settings.

They prefer some of the picture processing disabled so you can flip to see is you like those options on/off.
