I've owned a Samsung 46A860 for a week. I love it and have no problems with it but i'm going to return it and get something cheaper. Save my money for later on in the year when the LED's are less expensive!!

My question is?

40A550 for $xxxx

40A630 for $300 more

40A650 for $500 more

I've read all the threads and know all the specs and matte vs gloss screens but would like to hear opinions on which one you would buy considering it will probably end up being a bedroom TV in less than a year. I watch lots of Blu-Ray movies and play PS3 frequently.....

I personally dont like samsung's but I would go with the 650. you could save a ton and go with a toshiba 550

How did I know you would say that? You promote Toshibas and bash every other manufacturer whenever you can.

To the original poster, I do agree that the 650 is the best of the bunch but if your objective is to save money, there's nothing wrong with the 550 either. Both are 1080p, but the 550 is 60Hz while the 630 & 650 are 120Hz. But of course you already knew that. So, like I always say, your money, your choice. Good luck.

The 545 has the most features. The 550 has the thin bezel. The 525 is not in their regza line but still offers an excellent value at the price they are selling for. In my opinion the 545 is the best.

I will put the Toshiba 545 on my list as well. Going to BB now to do some comparisons.

Back to the Samsung....

46A550 for the same price as 40A650???

30,000 vs 50,000, 60 vs 120. 6 inches is huge but so is PQ!!! I know it is a personal preference but which one would you guys purchase?

I got the 40A630 this week, upgraded from a 25 inch CRT for the bedroom, not much light to contend with but the matte is no big deal. The picture is outstanding. AMP makes HD DVD/Blu Ray movies look too real so I turn it off there, but turn it on for 2D/3D animation. I put in CARS last night on the PS3 and Im still picking my jaw up off the floor. I have NEVER seen the movie look so good in 1080p AMP goodness.

You can't turn off the 120hz refresh rate. You can turn off the 120hz motion plus technology. Totally different thing.

I went with the 630 because of the semi-matte screen. The 650 has the reflective screen.

Is it ture the the 42 inch XV545 is a Sharp Panel and not the same class as the 46 inch and larger 545 models that come with a Samsung panel? Is the

42XV545U a good buy or should one stay away from that an go to the 46 inch one?

Just got back from BB and Visions (Canada). The 46XV545 is a very nice looking TV in my opinion.

I can purchase the 46XV545 for $100 cheaper than the 40A650

I don't see any reason why I shouldn't buy the Toshiba over the Samsung? The 46 inch, 120hz and the price sounds like a great deal!!

Sounds like an easy decision to me. Six more inches and a hundred dollars cheaper.

The toshiba will also handle the motion blur better and you dont get the soap opera effect.

Yeah the SOE on the Samsung really bothers me. Seems like you pay for a feature that you would rarely ever use. I'm going to BB tomorrow to exchange my Sammy for the Toshiba. I'll let everyone know what I think in the 545 thread after i've played around with it for a while.

When I had the samsung 630 I noticed a lot more blur than on my toshiba. When you was watching a golf ball flying through the air it would be very blurred , almost like 3 balls. Then when it landed you would also get the blur. With the toshiba the ball stays pretty sharp in the air and when landing.

If you like the looks of the thin bezel on the toshiba 46xf550u costco has a very good price on that right now. Very similiar in features but without the srt. I dont believe the 550 has auto view either. Not suggesting you should get the 550 instead of the 545 Im just pointing out the very good price it can be bought for right now.

Can anyone address the 42" if it is inferior to the 46" and up panels?
