Samsung Soundbar - Control Volume with Samsung TV Remote?

699 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  maddogmdd
My parents have this TV: Samsung UN46F6300AFXZA
And this sound bar: Samsung HW-F355/ZA

They are asking me to figure out if there is any way to control the soundbar volume using the TV remote. Looking at the full specs on Samsung's website (sorry, it wouldn't let me post the links), it seems like the answer is, frustratingly, no:

The TV has Anynet+ (Samsung's name for HDMI-CEC) but not TV SoundConnect (Samsung's proprietary Bluetooth connection)

The Soundbar has TV SoundConnect, but not Anynet+.

So, my connectivity options appear to be down to analog or optical, neither of which carry controls.

Any other solutions that I'm not thinking of, or perhaps just not listed in the specs? Returning either product is not an option as they've had them for awhile.

Thanks!

What is connected to the TV? Cable box, Blu-ray player, etc.... The soundbar remote can change inputs and change channels on the TV. Maybe they could just use the soundbar remote.
Cable box, that's it. Actually, what they really want to do is use the cable box remote for everything. It's already programmed to turn the TV on and off, but volume control doesn't work unless they use the TV internal speakers. I would program the soundbar into the cable remote, but apparently Samsung soundbars don't have that capability.
