Trying to figure this one out by searching the forum, but have not found the answer.

Samsung T160 connected to Samsung DLP HLN507W via DVI. When changing the output on the back of the T160 I get varying results. 480 looks good and fills the screen. 720p results in black bar on the left side of the screen as if it is not centered. What causes this. I would think that the output needs to be @ 720p so no scaling takes place. Or should it depend on the content being broadcast? Confused.

I have the exact same setup. Just installed my ts160 this weekend. If using DVI you need to make sure the aspect setting on the Samung 507W is set to TV (Wide) and not PC (Wide). After I made that change, everything looked great

Yes, aspect ratio needs to be TV wide, but also, even at TV Wide the picture can be off-centered. I have a TS-160 and HLN43. On the TS-160 setup menu somewhere there is are menu options for monitor setup. (I'm not home right now so I'm going from memory.) Accessing that menu will allow you to move the picture right and left. If you are only getting a bar on one side of the TV, then I believe you need to perform this adjustment. If you have black bars all around, then you simply need to change the aspect ratio to TV-Wide.

Thanks,

I figured it out last night after reading Arun's guide in more detail and switched to 720p. It was clearly off center. Adjusted the X-Axis and everything lined up perfectly.

On my T-160 if you turn the unit off.. the DVI goes off center again. Going back to the menu, it shows the adjustment was made (icon shows the new position) but the picture is off again...

hitting the button to adjust.. and POP.. the pic goes to the correct position. So, a little annoying.. but liveable

I did have to do a realignment after a reboot of my TS-160, but not after just turning it off. That would be annoying. You might try the X-axis adjustment per Arun's guide, but that requires going into the service menu.

I have the same problem with the 160 so I finally went to the R G B output and I can't see a bit of difference in PQ.

To clarify... the adjustment I made was to the HLN within the service menu (X-Axis) not to the T-160. It was off by 3" or so. It has not moved since and is perfect center.

Thanks,
