I've had a problem with straight lines since I had the TV. I'm watching a baseball game and the first base line curves just past the bag on the sides of the screen. I'm not talking about something you have to really look for but a very noticeble curve.

So I got the Video Essentials disc and got into the service menu. Colors and sharpness and everything else is now excellent, but I can't get straight lines over the entire screen. If I get the top straight the bottom is curved, and if the top and bottom are straight the middle bulges out. I've tried adjusting parabola, trapezoid etc very slowly, one at a time and I'm getting nowhere. Well, that's not quite true, there is an improvement but it is far from perfect.

Does anyone have any tips? What should I adjust first? Parabola or what? Which patterns should I use on the disc?

As far as the other settings I have now, it is set for 5% overscan. The disc says top monitors can go down to as little as 2.5 so I thought that 5% would be OK for this one. Is it or do you think I can go lower?

I had this set for 5 or 6 of months then sold it for something bigger. If you are watching in panorama mode for SD material, you will not get rid of the curved lines at the sides of the screen no matter what adjustments you make. The panorama mode on this set is not very good, especially when watching sports with lines on the field. I did have to make some adjustments in SM to correct geometry problems, but on mine it was mostly vertical lines in 1080i mode.

Remember if you make adjustments to geometry they will have to be made in each mode so if you are using a calibration DVD make sure you check geometry first in 480i mode, then make adjustments in the offset menus for the other modes as needed.

If you have overscan at 5% that should be good. This set has a really poor power supply and will "breathe" alot as picture brightness changes. I tried setting mine lower, but it didn't work out well. Hope this info helps....

Did I waste my money, and time, with the Video Essentials disc? Obviously I can only see the geometry pattens through the DVD input, which is video 3. I don't have component video DVD yet, I have a cheap Apex which I will replace sometime. Anyway in the service menu my TV has a Deflection menu with geometry settings, and then 480i and 1080i menus with geometry settings. When I adjust the Deflection settings, does that have an effect at all on the 480i and 1080i or are they completely independant?

Well im considering the 26 inch myself, and I work at bestbuy in th HT dept. We have the model that has the hd tuner in it. But I wanted to see the one without like the one you have except 26, so I had to go to sears. I noticed the weird geometry to it as well. It was at the top of the screen when I had it on sd material, especially apparent when I put it on 4:3, because then you can even see the edges of the line angeling off. Although their setup at sears, was really bad, renovating a couple things, cables on the floor tvs messed up, salesman that know nothing, not sure if this is just a sears thing, I really never been to any other store with ht other than my job. So Im not sure if we just keep ours real nice or what.
