Couple questions on the Samsung TXP2670:


Anybody have the Service Menu codes?


And how do you change the side bars when viewing 4:3 from grey to black - grey is really annoying!

Nobody knows anything about this TV? Why are the bars in grey??? black makes much more sense

Samsung and Toshiba prefer grey bars to minimize burnin. They should make it selectable though! Go with Sony or Panasonic for black bars.

I've been wondering the same thing myself about the txp3071wh.


My CBS station uses black bars for all their SD 4:3 programing (which is sort of annoying in its own right) but the other channels default to the grey bars in 4:3.

The side bars can come from several sources. If the signal is being broadcast with sidebars in the image then the TV is going to reproduce them because the TV sees that as a whole 16x9 image. If the signal is being broadcast as a 4x3 image to a decoder box such as a STB, Cable, or Satellite receiver, and if you have that unit set for a 16x9 monitor, then it will be the culprit for the gray bars and can be adjusted in its menu.

No where in the user menu can it be adjusted - I'm wondering if there is a place in the service menu - but nobody seems to have those instructions
