Hey,

I'm wondering if the Samsung UN24H4500AFXZA uses discrete codes or toggle for Power On/Off and switching between inputs 1 and 2. I contacted Samsung tech support but their answer was a bit cryptic, would anyone be able to share some insight?

Thank you

Manufacturers tend to use the same codes across all models. Tech support usually has no idea these codes exist. Would you like me to post the Samsung TV discrete codes, and if so, what format? What remote are you trying to use?

Samsung also uses a couple of similar protocols with a very different repeat behavior. So if you pick the wrong one, it will work, but poorly.

Having said that, the smaller and cheaper the model, the less likely it is to support discrete codes. If they didn't work with the UN24H4000, odds are they won't work with the UN24H4500 either.

When you say there were issues with toggle codes, do you mean the commands themselves, like power toggle, or do you mean they used a protocol with a toggle bit, like RC5/6? If the behavior was flaky, it could have simply been the difference between NEC1 and NECx2.

That would be really helpful. I'm using Control4. Discrete codes worked with the UN28H4000FXZA, but not with the UN24H4000FXZA.

I assume Control4 can import pronto hex. So here are some standard discrete Samsung codes you can try. All Samsung models from the past several years use the same codes. So if you had working codes for one model that don't work on another, you're probably out of luck.

Code:

Thank you very much, I really appreciate the help.

Could you clarify your point that "All Samsung models from the past several years use the same codes." Earlier you had said "the smaller and cheaper the model, the less likely it is to support discrete codes." and I've personally experienced the smaller model not responding to the same codes that the larger model responded to.

Thanks again

That's exactly what I'm saying. Let me rephrase. All draw from the same pool of codes (power toggle is the same code across all models, for example). Low end models implement fewer of those codes. Discretes don't work on your small TV because they didn't bother to implement those functions. The signal is simply ignored in that case.

What do you do with all these tiny TVs anyway?
