Samsung Unveils BD-P4600 Wall-Mountable Blu-ray Player
The Profile 2.0 BD-P4600 Blu-ray Player is wall-mountable with 1080p upscaling and HD soundtrack support. by Steve Crowe

Samsung unveiled its BD-P3600 and BD-P4600 Blu-ray Player, the world's first wall-mountable Blu-ray Player, at CES 2009.

Both new players include BD Live (Profile 2.0) and Bonus View (Profile 1.1) support, 1080p playback with DVD upscaling and total HD soundtrack support.

Each player offers instant streaming of Netflix and Pandora (subscriptions required) and have 1GB internal flash memory.

They come with Samsung's Touch of Color (ToC) design, and the BD-P3600 is just two inches tall. The wall-mountable BD-P4600 is just 1.5 inches thick with a piano black design. If wall-mounting is not an option, it has an integrated stand that lets it rest on a table at a 25 degree angle.

The players wirelessly connect to Blu-ray features by connecting the 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi dongle to the two USB 2.0 ports or via the Ethernet connection.

Both internally decode the latest high-res digital multichannel audio soundtracks, including Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD HR/MA. The BD-P3600 can also output any of the soundtracks as a bitstream through its 7.1-Channel analog audio outputs or as an uncompressed PCM signal.

Pricing and availability weren't announced.
