Sanyo PLV Z6????

when did the Z5 come out? Im guessing it has only been out for a couple months, i just figured Sanyo would come out with something more of a step up, seems like the new players have been just modifications of the older models.

The Z5 came out in September (October really) and it had a few improvements over the Z4 -- a 2nd iris to boost technical contrast and 100 more lumens. Not a dramatic difference but it did make for a moderately better PJ.


I would imagine that the Z6 or next-in-line PJ for Sanyo will be 1080p and will probably be announce next September/October in time for CEDIA.

A google search yielded a dealer that had this listed as a July '07 release... any other news on the Z6?

any new rumors on the Z6?

I'm also interested if there is any new news on this. I plan on upgrading my projector this year and I'm thinking the Z6 will be it. I'm guessing it won't come out until September or October. But that's just a guess. I would be very surprised if it was anything but 720p. To release the Z6 as a 1080p they would have to sell it for a lot more. The Z line has always been a good price performer. However, I've been wrong before! Hopefully a full press release is coming soon.

Looks like (from this store) the Sanyo PLV-Z6 won't be 1080p.

And there doesn't seem to be much in the way of improvements except for a bump in CR to 14k. Oddly enough, if those specs are to be believed, the Z6 is actually dimmer than the Z5. ?


But what's to say Sanyo doesn't release a a Z6000 to become their 1080p model? Kind of like what Panasonic did last year.

Yikes! The price they list is more than double what the sell the Z5 for!

i dont see why it would be so unbelievable for Sanyo to make the z6 a 1080p, considering the epson is selling for around 2800 online, i would think sanyo would want to make a major mark and sell their 1080p for 2500 or so, sure a little more, but a great deal for 1080p, they sell like hot cakes too

definitely. I'd by one right now. $2500 is my mental mark. Although the epson Powerlite 1080 can be had for $2499 now.

It's possible the specs on the links posted above are wrong...but according to them the Z6 is not 1080p. That's why I'm suggesting they may follow panasonic's lead and introduce a Z6000 or something similar as their 1080p model.

Yeah, I can't see the Z6 coming out at 1080p. The point of the Z line is quality projectors at lower prices. I could see the Z7 coming out next year with 1080p. I agree with broadwayblue, Sanyo could introduce a new line that has 1080p. If they do that I bet it's price would be around $2300.

Whatever Sanyo decides to call it, I wish they'd just get on with it! Early Sept should tell all.

yeah everyone is starting to get into the 2999$zone for 1080p, not so long the Z serie was 2999$MSPR.


I'am satisfied by Sanyo so far my Z4 have been great... but i'am gonna upgrade to 1080p this spring or 4/4 and would like to continue with them.

Prices in the UK cannot be converted to US$ or CAD$ for comparison purposes because everything sells in the UK for what we pay in dollars ( more or less), thats just the way it is.


The Z6 will be a fine PJ (my Z5 is awesome) but will not be 1080P for cost reasons and will most likely debut in October as all the past models have. JMHO.

Im sure that website listing the Z6 is 1280x720 is just guessing. Especially since they claim to be selling it on Friday.
