I have two Zenith 520's connected to an RCA oval dish with the 3 lnb's. I have good agreement between the two STB's on signal strength on Sat. A and Sat C, within a couple of points. But on Sat B, I have a 6 point difference (81 vs 87). Why would this be? Thanks.

Length of cable, type of cable, bend in cable, differences in cable termination, etc.

That is odd, because I have a somewhat same and different problem.

I had my 3 lnb dish set and had Sat B in the 80's.

Then after a wind storm, I noticed that my Sat B was in the 60's and pixelation on HBO HD 509.

So I went out and re-aligned the Sat dish,

Now I get Sat B in the 75 region, no pixelation, and I lost my Sat C and my Sat A went down 10 to the low 80's.

I worked on it for hours, and I can not seem to get any higher peak for Sat B.

Anyone else have this problem?

It could be the multiswitch, the cable terminations at th dish (going to the LNB's) or it could be the combiner(I hope that's the word) that goes from sat c LNB to the other (I forgot which one). I would check all these and leave the dish pointing alone.

That is possible, but I think that would cause a larger effect.

We are talking about a signal strength of 10 to 20 numbers.

I call it numbers, because they are relative depending on the unit and make.

What the numbers mean is that it is an arbitrary guide that can reference signal strength, so you can use to see different variations of signal strength.

And, of course lack of signal.

That was the first thing I did was wiggle connections and alignment to see if anything was loose or caused variation to signal levels.

About 3 months ago, I got the sat C kit and added it.

Then had to realign the "tilt" to get Sat C (channel 90) to work.

And, I got an increase in the Sat B signal, which is High Def 509.

Then a week ago, I got a drop in Sat B signal by "15" numbers, and pixelation.

Now cable connections could cause this, but, I think wiggle would cause some changes to signal (maybe).

But, the Sat A was near 90.

And, HDnet is about 10 numbers higher than 509 ?
