I know this topic has been covered a lot lately, but I've ordered from three different places who didn't indicate that they were sold out of the Sat C kit on their website. I was trying to minimize cost which seemed to be roughly $30 + $9 shipping.

I don't want to commit to any yearlong Showtime package either.

So does anyone have them in stock for less than $40 on May 7 ???

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

If you currently have a Directv subscription, then you can get a Sat C kit for a little over eight bucks. Call them up and tell them you want a Sat C kit with the self-install option...and you don't have to commit to anything. I believe all that is required is an existing subscription to Directv. You will have to pay via a credit card or check by phone.

I called them last thursday and had my kit by Saturday. Very easy to install. I was told that I would be required to subscribe to showtime, but no commitment was required. I also told them that I didn't want to add showtime to my sub until I recieved the kit and made sure everything was working.

Good luck! .

As we know, DirecTV is anything but consistent. I was told (multiple times) that I had to subscribe to Showtime for a year to get the $8 kit. I just switched from Starz to Showtime so I was not out anything. The savings of at least $30 pays for Showtime for three months anyways. Kit arrived in two business days.

I had to subscribe to Showtime to get them to send me the kit for $8 with the self install option. I did specifically ask how long I had to keep showtime so that I wouldn't be charged any extra fee's, the customer retention lady told me that I was not committing to a long term subscription to Showtime.

You didnt say who if anyone you've tried yet locally, Vic but if you havent already you might check with some of the Radio Shacks in DFW. One of them by me in Denver had one or 2 in stock a couple weeks ago, so it is at least possible. They list at 59.95 there. I believe it's RS part number 16-2525.

He's 100% correct. Call 1-800-THESHACK. The part # is 16-2525 and it is $59.95 plus about $6 shipping. Mine will be here tomorrow.

Thanks DP1,

Vic,

When I tried the Good Guys their computer came up empty on the Sat-C kit, but when I asked for the LNB for the 110 satellite, there it was. Of course it was back ordered at the time, so I went with Direct.

Have one of the clerks check the computer that way and see if your luck doesn't change.

Directv told me the only way to get the Sat c Kit free except for postage was to subscribe to Total Choice with ALL the Premium channels for around $82.00. Is this totally incorrect? Is any of this information on the Directv Website?

They told me the same thing too, at first. But it's not entirely true. With that option they will install it for you. Call again, ask for the self-install sat-c kit for $8.56 S&H.

Thanks to all for the info. I called Dtv today and ordered the self install sat-c kit for only $8.08 tax included. They said it should arrive in 2-5 days. When I called, the entertainment specialist asked me where I found out about ordering the kit. I thought that was interesting. I just said "online." Is the kit advertised on the Dtv site? Maybe I'll go check it out. I always come here first for all of my information 'cause most of the time the folks here are on the money!

Thanks again and good luck to you all.

BTW, the CSR said that there was much much more HDTV content to come on sat C, so if you have the kit, you are all set! YES!!!!!!!!
