I haven't logged in to this site in a while, and today when I get in, I'm seeing all these information about the Sat C kit. I think I got it figured out that it's a requirement in order to tune in to the new Showtime HD. Also, you can order it directly from DirecTV for a very reasonable fee.

My question is now I currently am using 2 x 18" dish, 1 pointinng to 110 and the other to 119. I then have a multi-switch that combined the 2 signals and another switch to combine my HD antenna, resulting in 1 cable coming into the receiver. At the receiver end, I have a switch that converts the signal into 2 outputs (Sat and Ant), and then into a DTC100. So what do I need to do in order to get this Sat C kit to work with my current setup?

Thank you in advance, everyone.

If you are getting all of the regular D* programming, you are pointing at 101 and not 110.

If you want to use separate dishes, you need another 18" dish with the Sat-C LNB pointed at 110. There is a combiner/filter that looks like a diplexor included with the kit. One input is connected to the Sat-C LNB and the other input is connected to to one side of the 119 LNB. The output of the combiner goes into the 18V 119 input of the multi-switch. You may have to re-boot your receiver and tell it you have added a third LNB.

Thanks for the info, even though I wasn't the one who asked. I am currently using a two 18" dish setup and would prefer to add a third dish instead of using an oval.

Have you (or anyone else here) actually done this 3-dish setup?

Is there anything else worth seeing on the C satellite? I guess there must be locals for some areas, but not our Atlanta locals.

Three dishes would have a very low WAF in my house.

It used to carry NC locals but they moved to the spot beam at 101 in late December (along with all of the other locals). I think they were testing HD-Net on 100 in the last day or two. Check the programming forum for more info.

My 3rd dish is going up as we speak. It may have a low next-door-neighbor acceptance factor (NDNAF), but it's OK with the wife. On second thought, he has two dishes, so I'm just one-upping him. ;)

The Sat-C kit won't be here for a day or two, so I'm going to install the second dish, point it to 119 to get it in the neighborhood, then wait for the Sat C kit to get the third dish working.
