I'm trying to figure out my best option of hooking up a Dishnetwork Dishplayer receiver to a plasma - specifically the Panny 42 or Pioneer 43. Currently I use the optical output of the Dishplayer to get dolby digital into my Sony DD receiver, and I use the S video out of the DP to feed video directly to the TV - no component video output on the DP.

So am I comprimising the video signal if my only option is S video? Man, I remember when S Video was the cat's meow.

It will look fine using S-video. It would be better if the box had component and you used that, but most of us are using S-video for our day-to-day SD TV on plasma with no big complaints.
