I am in the process of building my first home theater and would very much like to save all my DVD's to my HDD. I would like to be able to select a movie from the screen just as you would a file of any other type and have the same quality of picture. First of all , I do not want to spend a lot of money, Second of all, the interface has to be wife friendly. Does anyone know of such intelligence to be had for mortals such as myself?

easy as pie...and fast!

get this:

AnyDVD

this "unlocks" your dvd so it becomes a data file.

you can use windows to copy all the dvd video files to your hard drive.

any software dvd player will be able to play the files.

you can even copy the files to other drives etc.

absolutely no compression or altyering of the dvd content.

rip a dvd in about 15-20 minutes depending on your dvd drive.
