Saving more episodes

Please excuse me for being so lazy....but how <IF I can> can I save more than the seven episodes of a show that Replay allows me to in the regular "record" menu?

BTW, I am a Tivo owner who just purchased a second box which just happens to be a Replay....what they say about the learning curve is correct.....the first thing you learn on always kinds of just sticks with you. I am struggling with my Replay!

Love this forum, though.

The solution is to get the 3.0 Software.

The 7 episode limit has been raised to 99 episodes,

and the 10 hour limit on theme channels has been

raised to 99.5 hours!

Which in case you weren't aware, started rolling out today. You will probably get it in the next 2 weeks or so max.

Thank you all for your quick replies.........especially to PRMan for clarifying about 3.0......

Jeep Geek, also thanks for the additional tip....you bring up my next question.....I have a 60 hour unit, and while I know that in no way that literally means I will get 60 hours, I was surprised to find out after about 10.5 hours of recorded shows, I was informed of about only 5 hours left. Any commentary would be welcome.....

As a Tivo-first-owner, I am finding the Replay to have a cumbersome interface. Not looking for a battle....just an observation.

For instance, if one Digimon channel has been created, (no comments, please; I am the Mom of three small boys) and I have reached the max of seven episodes, why doesnt Replay simply let me create another Digimon

channel (such as Digimon1?)!!! Additionally, the search functions are ridiculous.......Wouldn't you think DIGIMO would bring up the Digimon shows in a search? Only exact matches work?

Thanks for any input.

<Pretty embarrassed here that I have to lay out for the world to see that a second DVR was necessary for my kids' viewing habits!>

Thanks again everybody!

There are probably a couple of factors at work here. First is recording quality. 60 hours is for standard, at the highest you'll only get 20. So if you have a bunch of stuff recorded at high quality, you'll eat up space faster. Second is guaranteed recordings. If you have a bunch of things that will be recorded but haven't yet, and their space is guaranteed, it gets removed from the pool (depending on which measure you're looking at http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif ) I've always heard the best way to see how much hard drive time is unused is to go to "live" TV and hit pause to see the estimated pause time remaining. If the live show you're watching isn't being recorded other than your pause buffer, it will be at high level, so the time left on the pause screen is hard drive space if it were used for high level recording. I think there's a slight offset there because of some hard drive space that is always reserved for the pause buffer, but you get the idea.

Hope this helps!

You don't need an exact match but they have to be full words. For instance, West will match "West Wing" "How The West Was Won" "Wild Wild West", etc.

You sound like a very nice Mom to me.

The searching is a little limited in that it will not take wildcards or partial matches. But, with MyReplyTv.com coming soon, you'll be able to do ANY kind of search imaginable and automagically program your unit from anywhere on the internet.
