Greetings.

I have a Sony DVP S9000 ES DVD player connected to a Sony VPH-D50 via (three connector) component cables. I am happy with the picture but would like to improve the line number output from 480p but do not know what the limits of the projector are.

So my first question is how high, in line number count, can I go with the D50?

The second equally important question is; what is a good scaler to match up with the D50?

Thank you for your time and input.

Some have said that you can go up to 720p with the D50Q, and I have no reason to doubt it, although I never tried it when I owned the D50Q.

When I had one, I used the iScan Pro, as well as the Sony internal doubler. The iScan probably did a slightly better job, but neither had anything on either of the progressive scan players I used with it. Those were the Toshiba and the Pioneer Elite (forget the model, but it was their first progressive scan).

You're probably fine with your Sony progressive scan player.
