Rather than upgrading a DVD here & a satellite receiver there by bits & pieces wouldn't I be better off to have a scaler make all 7 inputs 720p to match my TV? I'm just starting down this road so I may have a big hole in my consciousness. 
I'm looking at the Extron line. I have their 12x8 Matrix switcher with remote. No glitches. Also the Vision Pro mentioned so favorably in this forum. My set-up is all s-video going to a Sharp LCD, no DVI.
Has anyone run a scaler through such a switcher & lived? I have a couple of ReplayTVs & would like to keep them while seeing their output look close to HDTV. Any flaws in my thinking or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Equipment:
4 Directv receivers--1 Zenith 520 HD (2 slaved to ReplayTVs)
2 DVDs, 1 Pioneer 7000 burner
1 Marantz MV8300 D-VHS
