I have a 5 year old Runco tripler and a Runco 933 8" CRT projector. What would happen if I input a 580p DVD progressive scan into the tripler?

Well the current PFP Runco processors do not accept proressive component signals so I would suggest a five your old model is NOT goint to be happy.



Having said that a CRT projector like yours will generally try to show ANY signal it is given. The 933 is a NEC9PG extra in disguise I thinK. It's ideal res is probably 720p in 16:9 aspect, You'll probably need to turn this into RGBHV using a Mike Parker or Key FDig transcoder to do this

It is a NEC and RGB goes to it. Do I still need a transcoder?

If you want to use the component progressive output of a DVD player then you will need a transcoder to turn it in to RGBHV. You could then feed that through the PC pass thru of your processor if it has one.


Alternatively just use the interlaced outputs to a new HQ scaler like a Lumagen VisionPro.
