Hi All,

I have a completely new setup for my home theater. When watching tv (FiOS) the picture looks different when watching a lot of content, almost always when the camera pans or zooms on non live content.

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

Equipement:

Samsung UN55C6500

Onkyo HT-RC260

Motorola QIP 7232 2

Thanks!

Perhaps you're seeing artifacts caused by 'motion-smoothing' settings. Turn such modes off, and make sure sharpness controls aren't set too high. A test Blu-ray, such as the Spears-Munsil disc (see Blu-ray Software section) helps for setting up displays. Set the FIOS STB for 1080i output initially; later tinkering might show 720p-1080i outputs produce better PQ, although that might create a delay when changing channels. Also, try bypassing the receiver if it's used to switch video signals. -- John

EDIT: Also might check whether the display has something like a 'cinema' mode, for 24p-based material (most dramas). Switch my plasma into Cinema mode for all 24p programming, then into Standard for 1080i/480i-only material, for extended watching. But this is mostly color temp and color/tint factory-set differences.
