Hey all,

I just purchased a 46" Sceptre LCD TV (model X46) and the component inputs malfunction. The color and image display appear completely green, or red, or yellow. I have verified the red/blue/green cables are plugged into the appropriate ports, and I have switched cables and tried from both my Verizon FIOS set top box, and my Nintendo Wii.

I can use the HDMI input from the same FIOS box and it works perfectly, and the HDMI input from my Sony Blu-Ray player also works fine.

I managed to get a "clear" or normal component signal once after randomly switching the source from HDMI to component, but it lasted maybe a minute before returning to its malfunctioning state. It behaves as if the component colors are plugged into the wrong input, but even messing around and plugging the blue cable into the green receptor/etc it still doesn't work.

It is not a cable issue, I've tried more than one and ensured they are secure and tight.

It isn't a connection issue, both component inputs malfunction.

It isn't an output issue from the source, I've tried two sources, with multiple cables, and it works fine on the old 32" lcd tv.

Any ideas, or has anyone heard of this issue before?

As you have done a good job testing and switching, it appears that the tv is defective.

If you can still return it, you should. Buying the third tier tv brands can frequently be problematic. If you can afford a little more, go for a Samsung or Sony, they are much better quality and last a lot longer.

Thanks Mes, I ended up returning it today. Thankfully they took it back without a hassle and without any restocking fees (considering it wouldn't be restocked, and would be RTV'd).

Time to save and get a nice 120Hz Tier 1 or 2 brand...
