All,

i just recieved my feed back destroyer that i am going to be using to tame my SONOTUBE SUB i am building but the manual that came with it ofcourse doesnt cover its use in this enviroment. does someone have a one line drawing or schematic on how they hooked the FBD in line between their AVR and the AMP for the sub. i will be using the LFE output (RCA) of my AVR to the Line In (RCA) of my Plate Amp... also it looks like i will have to buy a mic so the FBD can sample the output of the sub to kill the feedback  .

thanks

Pick up a couple RCA to 1/4" adapters at radio shack.

RCA out of AVR -> 1/4" in of BFD

1/4" out of BFD -> RCA into sub amp

Also you don't need a mic, that's only if you're going to use it to "destroy feedback" at a live venue. I'm assuming you're going to be using it for it's parametric EQ capabilities. No mic required for that use, just use REW to figure out what filters to enter and put them in by hand (REW isn't necessary either it just makes things easier as you can visually see how the filters should modify the FR and it gives you the values to input if you're doing it by hand). I used to think doing it by hand would be really hard (I got spoiled having REW send them directly to the BFD over MIDI) but found it's not too bad once you take the time to figure out how it's done.

I've heard REW mentioned a bunch of times; what is it, and where can one find it?

REW ("Room EQ Wizard") is free measurement software that can be downloaded from hometheatershack. I mentioned it above because you can get a USB MIDI card and send the EQ filters directly from REW to the BFD. It's quick and easy once you get the hang of it. It does have great documentation and support at hometheatershack.
