Scotty doesn't know!

I had seen Eurotrip in theaters and laughed my butt off. It was made by the some of the writers of Seinfeld, but this movie seemed to have more childish humor then seinfeld did. It was like Amercian Pie to the extreme.

I watcthed the movie at a friends house on DVD last night so I don't want to comment on PQ and Audio. It loooked fine to my eyes, but I wasn't used to this persons tv, and it was very small and I was sitting to far away.

It has one of the best extra's I've ever seen. One of the icons said Eurotrip Bootleg. So I click on it and the 3 directors are sitting there holding a bootleg copy of the movie that they bought in chinatown. They start showing clips from the bootleg and talking about it. Then they did what really impressed me. They said something to the effect of "Well since people were willing to pay for a bootleg we figured we'd throw it on here. We are going to bootleg the bootlegers" and the bootleg version starts playing. That was just brilliant.

Which version of Eurotrip has this on it? Unrated or R-rated?
I though the Eurotrip extras were some of the best I've seen on any "non-huge-blockbuster" DVD. The deleted scenes are numerous and well-presented in good quality and nice commentary on why they were deleted--and include a lot more of Michelle Trachtenberg (who played Dawn on *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*), which I'm happy for. :) The sing-along music video "Scotty Doesn't Know" is terrific because that song is so memorable from the movie, and the scene selection that highlights what's been added to the unrated version is a nice touch. And there are a lot more little extras too numerous to mention, aside from the hilarious "bootlegging the bootleggers" feature which was hilarious (especially when the directors start discussing the video camera operator's "directorial decisions" in moving the camera around and focusing on different parts of the screen).

The best extras ever are of course on the fan edition of *Freaks and Geeks*, which are so numerous I couldn't possibly watch all of them. But the *Eurotrip* extras are *very* impressive, especially for such a non-blockbuster title.

As for the movie itself, I went to see it purely for the delectable Ms. Trachtenberg, who proves she isn't "Buffy's little sister" anymore without resorting to anything overly bawdy. It was a very fun "teen sex comedy" that never gets quite as in-your-face with its sexual themes as the *American Pie* movies do, which is probably a good thing for this particular movie because it does hide some nicely subtle comedy in with the obvious jokes. It's still a throwaway entertainment flick, but it's very entertaining IMHO and the extras make it even more so.

I can't say what may or may not be different with the R-rated extras since I have the Unrated version. Who needs the R-rated version of a "teen sex comedy" anyway? :)

One thing to note though is that even the menus (on the Unrated at least) have nudity all over them, which is something I've never seen on a DVD menu outside of outright porn. So, don't have anyone offended by or too young for copious nudity in the room when you insert the disc.

Rented and watched this last night. Extremely funny! Beat the crap out of Road Trip. The scene with the French guy on the train was hilarious. By far the best comedy I've seen in years.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) Spoiler
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) The reference to Scotty Doesn't Know in the East German club scene was icing on the cake for the funny song.
saw it also, and listening to some actors speaking german and making fun of germany is sooooo hilarious....

The unrated version of National Lampoon's Van Wilder also has nudity in it. However, you choose to have the censored or uncensored menus and the menu starts up as censored.
It was also true with the Unrated version of Old School. I guess they move those scenes/pictures forward, so if that is all you are looking for you dont have to go far.
When the little kid started doing his impression of a certain German leader, I just lost it! So wrong, but yet so funny. Overall, this was a pretty funny flick and it's a must see for anyone who liked American Pie, Road Trip, Old School, etc.
Yeah that Hitler kid was funny. The guy from Snatch was hilarious as well. But then, I've liked him in just about everything he's been in.
Watched this over the weekend with a few friends and we all laughed our asses off. Total surprise. Ditto on Hitler kid... I was rolling.

I didn't recognize Matt Damon as Donnie the punk singer.
Boat Trip also has unrated menus with nudity in them, lending further confusion to what target audience the movie is supposed to be directed at.
I thought it was funny when the song was set as the ring tone for the cell phone. :D
I haven't seen the movie yet... I was going to buy it while I was out but wig-mart only had the other version, not the unrated one... Lost my purchase right there, $20 for the rated version, I don't think so. I would continue but I digress, I need to get back to sleep...
Simon well if nothing else go rent it. ITs well worth it :)
It looks like it. I will be buying it, just not there. I'll maybe get it at the wherehouse, comes with a $10 rebate, I don't like renting too much I'd rather own...
thanx for all those who posted in this thread. I rented last night., i think it was the most unexpected great comedy i have seen since supertroopers. (movie i just didnt expect to be as great as it was)

the hitler kid, the pope and the "hey this isnt where i parked my car" are all reasons why i will buy this movie. :D
Its a shame Blockbuster doesnt still do the Rent It, Like It, Buy It promotion anymore. They wanted $21.99 for it. No thanx. I went a block down the road and got it for $17.99 at Best Buy. (it came up at 19.99 and i had to do alittle arguing to get them to give me their DISPLAYED PRICE.) But in the end, it all worked out.
