Any ideas what's happened and whether a fix is feasible (i.e., worth it)?

This is a Sony KDL-46Z4100 - bought in 2008. Picture is either this or green and black grid pattern, regardless of input/source. Audio is fine.

your tv is upside down. try turning it right side up and see if it fixes it.

Thanks - symptoms are a bit different, but cause is likely the same?

Anyway, I'm guessing your advice is basically because it's 7 years old doing the repair isn't worth it . . . .

If you can repair it for dirt cheap then go ahead, but you can get a lot better sets these days for very little money.
