Hi Guys,


I have a DIY screen around a frame consisting of 1x2's of Douglas Fir Wood. It's fairly light. My problem is that the only wall i can hang it on is the one with the door. And everytime I close the door forcefully the wall shakes ( joys of apartment living) and the screen falls down! so far i've been lucky to avoid any damage. now i'm reluctant to put it up again unless there is a sure way of securing it to the wall.. so what can i use to hang it??


i was using small thumb tags.. they don't destroy the wall and can easily take the weight of the screen.. till someone starts banging the door!

You can use a bit more permanent hanging method. When you move out, some spackle will do the trick. Anyway, get some small metal "L" (or ell if you prefer http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif ) brackets and screw them to the top (and bottom if you want) of your frame. Using plastic wall anchors (Home Depot sells these nice ones that actually screw into the wall, then you screw into them) to support the weight. Two "L's" ought to be enough. Paint them if you want them to blend in better, and pre-drill your screw holes to prevent splitting the 1X2.

hmmmm i already have four 'el' brackets at the back of my screen to hold the 1x2 wood together.


Guess u're right.. have to go the wall anchor way. and dabble the wall with spackle before vacating.


I'd thought of some small hooks to drill into the back of the frame, pass a strong string through them and hang it like a picture frame.. that oughtta at least control the falling part, allignment however could be a pain since i'll be using a CRT FP and need the screen vertically straight.

Perhapse I need to be more clear. I mean use 90 degree angle "ells" to hang it. Here goes some poor ANSI scetching http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
