I have same ideas like you. Get Apex dvd player from wall mart for $67. This once can read jpeg images from CD-R.

Screen Images
I would like to use my plasma to display images from time to time.
If I am having a house party with music playing from my stereo, I feel it would look cool to have images or art work displayed on the plasma.
Are there specialty DVD's for this purpose??
Should I be concern with burn in?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would sincerely recommend using a PC for this. It's amazing how good a photo will look with the 1:1 pixel mapping from a PC. And then you don't need to worry about DVD's, etc.
Plus, if you use your computer for the music source (mp3's, cd's, whatever) with Winamp, you can use some sweet visualizations on the plasma, that would be great!
