Screen Imperfection on New Sony KDS-R60XBR1

I just took my new Sony R60XBR1 out of the box, unwrapped it, turned it on, and noticed that there's a big black spot on the top right area of the screen. It looks like a large dust spot, the width of about 4-5 pixels. It's not visible from my sofa, but when i stand right in front of it, i can see it. I can't be sure if it's dust in between the screen layers, or perhaps a spot that originates at the lens or bulb. When i view the spot from a sharp angle, i can see light around it, almost as if it's a scratch.

I find this unacceptable, considering the price of these sets. I've contacted Sony, and they want to put me in touch with a local repair shop who will come out and check the TV, possibly disassembling it to clean it. I'm a bit concerned that more dust and debris can get in once it's opened up.

Any thoughts or ideas on what i should do about this? I would love to demand that sony send a replacement at their expense, but perhaps this type of thing isn't that uncommon and is easy to repair.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

If you just bought it I would take it back to place of purchase and ask for a new unit. That why I like CC so much, 30 day return policy no questions asked.
problem is, bought it from out of state retailer, so it was shipped in on a truck.
Let the set warm up. Sometimes there is just a bit of condensation between the screen and the protective screen in front that will disappear after a little use, this can happen with all types of RPTVs, but after a day or two if its still a probm, try a dabbing soft cloth gently at the spot and that sometimes help. Last resort return set.

They still may be liable since it was defective right out of the box. If so, the burden of having a replacement shipped and the defective unit picked up may be on them and you won't have to pay a dime.

BTW i don't think Sony ever made a 60" plasma so this might be in the wrong forum . . . .
